Lunar Cycle: Feb. 17 - March 17

Updated: Feb 16

The Lunar New Year opens up with an eclipse cycle that begins with the New Moon in Pisces. This powerful alignment invites reflection, new beginnings, and the courage to face what has been hidden.

New Moon In Pisces February 17th

Solar Eclipse

The first lunar cycle of 2026 begins on Tuesday, February 17th, with the New Moon in Pisces, accompanied by a powerful Solar Eclipse. This lunation opens the year with inviting profound change and intentional new beginnings. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon sashays her way between the Sun and the Earth, casting her shadow and (partially or fully) veiling the Sun. In ancient times, eclipses were regarded as omens. This one feels deeply auspicious. At a moment when we would typically not see the Moon at all, she will make her presence known. What is unseen asks to be acknowledged, even If only for a brief moment. Take note, that is one of our core lessons entering the New Year.

Pisces Is the dreamer and mystic of the zodiac. This mermaid energy opens portals to intuition, imagination, and spiritual knowing. Pisces is a mutable water sign. Her symbol can be the mermaid or 2 fishes, each going in a different direction. They live in both worlds, the physical and the mystical. Participating in activities such as meditation, prayer, and visualization are going to be optimal during this time. Remember, magic starts from within.

The New Moon’s energy continues through the arrival of the Full Moon on March 3rd.

Full Moon In Virgo March 3rd

Lunar Eclipse

The first Full Moon of the lunar year rises on March 3rd in Virgo, coinciding with a Lunar Eclipse and closing out the first eclipse cycle of 2026. Virgo Is the archetype of the healer, the hermit and the priestess. Under this Full Moon, attention is drawn to the strength of your direction. During the Pisces New Moon, you were dreaming of different ways you want to live your life or enhance It. The Full Moon in Virgo is asking you What is the plan? Where do we root first? Are you ready to take the first step?

This Full Moon, with the added weight of the eclipse energy will feel intensified/heavy. This is not a Full Moon to be out and about dancing up the moonlight. This is a personal and internal Full Moon. She will bring a lot to the forefront. She will force you to see the details of your desires. Don't run or hide from it. Don't allow it to discourage you. See it as a reminder of what you need to be ready for. A reminder of what you will need to do. This is a Moon that asks for gentleness. Be kind to your body. Be soft with your emotions. Cancel what can be canceled. Tend to what truly matters. Rest is not optional, it is ritual.

When it comes to working with this Blood Moon, follow your intuition. Some may feel called to sit beneath her light during the eclipse itself, some may not. Remember, the energy of the Full Moon lingers for three to five days. If sitting under the Moon during the eclipse does not feel aligned, allow yourself to wait until the following evening.

It is not recommended to charge any tools during a lunar eclipse.

Waning Moon March 7th - 17th

Beginning around March 7th, the Moon will begin her luteal phase... aka she will begin to wane and fade. Slowly releasing her light as she moves toward renewal on March 18th. This sacred window from the 7th through the 17th reminds us to complete the cycle. With new Intentions, new, actions, comes the need for more space. Which means..... we must release something to make room.

The waning Moon is not a time of force or forward motion. After the intensity of eclipse season and the Full Moon, this phase offers rest + space for integration.

What to Do: Clear your altar. Cleanse your space. Speak aloud what you are ready to let go of: habits, beliefs, emotional weight, or expectations that no longer serve the you are moving towards. The waning Moon reminds us that release is not failure, and it is not loss. It is an offering to create space for the new Intentions to grow.

The Moon is preparing herself for renewal, and she invites you to do the same.

Journal Prompt: What has come into full view for me as this lunar cycle comes to completion?

May the Moon guide you gently, now and always.

XO,

Amanda
